Terms and Conditions – Grief Recovery Services

By booking a session or using our services, you agree to the following terms:
- Service Overview
- We offer grief support using the Grief Recovery Method®.
- Services are educational and supportive, not medical treatment.
- Abbie Jones is a certified Grief Recovery Method® Specialist, trained by the Grief Recovery Institute.
- Client Responsibilities
- You must be 18+ or have parental/guardian consent.
- You should be emotionally stable enough to participate.
- Those in crisis (e.g. suicidal thoughts) should seek immediate medical help.
- You are responsible for your own health care and encouraged to stay in contact with your GP or therapist.
- Regular attendance and honest participation are expected.
- Confidentiality and Safeguarding
While we respect your confidentiality, we may need to share information if:
- There is a serious risk of harm to you or others
- Abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult is suspected
- Required by court or law
- Concerns about terrorism or serious crime arise
- Public health reporting is necessary (e.g. infectious diseases)
We will discuss this with you where appropriate and safe to do so.
- Session Policies
- Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, scheduled weekly or bi-weekly.
- 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations to avoid a full session charge.
- Late arrivals will reduce session time, but the full fee will still apply.
- Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a 50% fee of the session cost.
- No-shows will incur a full session fee unless waived for the first occurrence.
- We may consider waiving fees for emergencies or unforeseen circumstances (documentation may be required).
- Booking, Cancellations & Payment
- Booking: Sessions are booked via our website or direct contact.
- Accepted methods: cash, cheque, credit card, or bank transfer.
- Sliding scale fees available based on financial need.
- Grief Recovery Programme (7-week course): Full payment is due 2 weeks prior to course start, with an option to pay in 2 instalments.
- Data Protection
- We collect personal information to provide services and comply with privacy laws.
- Your data is stored securely and is never shared with third parties without your consent, except when required by law.
- Client records are retained for one year after the final session and are then securely destroyed.
- Virtual Sessions
- Online sessions are via Zoom. You are responsible for your internet connection and privacy.
- Technical issues on your side will not be refunded but may be rescheduled.
- Boundaries and Conduct
- We maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Communication is limited to agreed professional channels.
- Emergency support is not provided – contact emergency services if needed.
- Complaints
- Raise any concerns directly with Abbie Jones in the first instance.
- Formal complaints may be submitted in writing.
- Services follow the standards of the Grief Recovery Institute.
- Liability
- Services are provided “as is” without guarantees.
- You accept responsibility for your emotional wellbeing.
- Liability is limited to the amount paid for services.
- Ending Services
- You may stop sessions at any time.
- We may end services for reasons such as non-payment or if the services are not suitable for your needs.
- Appropriate referrals will be offered if necessary.
- Legal Terms
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms form the full agreement between us.
