Privacy Policy

This privacy policy (the “Policy”) is issued to my clients in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (the “Act”).

I take my responsibilities under the Act seriously. I recognize the importance of the personal data you entrust to me, and it is my responsibility to properly manage, protect, and process your personal data.

Please take a moment to read this Policy so you understand the purposes for which I collect, use, and disclose your personal data.

This Policy supplements, but does not supersede or replace, any consents you may have previously provided me regarding your personal data. Your consents here are in addition to any rights you may have under the law to collect, use, and/or disclose your personal data.

If you have any questions or concerns about this Policy or my privacy practices, please contact me abbie@thegriefrecoveryspecialist.co.uk.

Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to the collection, holding, processing, use, and/or transfer of your personal data under the Act.

As a general principle, you will provide me with your Personal Information voluntarily; there are generally no detrimental effects for you if you choose not to consent or provide your Personal Information. However, there are circumstances where I cannot act without certain aspects of your Personal Information, such as when it is required to process your service instructions, provide you with access to a blog or newsletter, or carry out legally required compliance screenings. In these cases, I may not be able to provide you with what you request without the relevant Personal Information, and I will do my best to notify you accordingly.

I will not be liable to you for the disclosure of Personal Information if, as shown by clear and convincing evidence, the Personal Information: (a) is generally known to the public at the time of disclosure by you; or (b) becomes generally known to the public through no fault of mine; or (c) was lawfully in my possession prior to your disclosure of such Personal Information; or (d) is subject to applicable laws or a valid court order requiring disclosure of such Personal Information.

You agree to me collecting the following “Personal Information” from and about you so I can provide you with my services:

  1. a) Information in Exchange for Services – From time to time, I may ask for personal information, such as name, email address, phone number, credit card numbers, account information, and/or billing addresses in exchange for my services.
  2. b) Transaction Information – When you contract a service from my website, certain information is tracked or collected, such as the date of purchase and service details. This information is collected and used for internal purposes only, to enhance the general user experience. If you contract my services, certain data is required to fulfil your request, such as credit card numbers/expirations/security codes, billing information, addresses, postcodes, and names, which may be processed through a third-party payment program. This information will not be shared intentionally with any party other than the third-party programs responsible for processing your payment and procuring payment for me.
  3. c) Analytics – My website collects data such as your location and use time to help me analyze user data and better serve my users. From time to time, my website may collect data such as cookies, pixel tags, clickstreams, and other technologies to collect information such as browser type, web pages viewed, links clicked, and other actions you may engage in on my website and social media accounts. This information is used to help me personalize your experience or for security purposes.
  4. d) Third Party Information – I receive information from social media platforms or other programs or plugins, such as Stripe or Google.
  5. e) Others – Any other miscellaneous information accumulated or tracked in relation to your use of the website or engagement in any user interface on it that may relate to the above purposes.

Retention of Information

If any of the personal data you’ve provided to me changes—for example, if you change your email address, wish to cancel any request you’ve made, or become aware of any inaccurate personal data I have about you—please let me know at abbie@thegriefrecoveryspecialist.co.uk. I will not be responsible for any losses arising from any inaccurate personal information you provide to me.

Under the Act, your personal information will be deleted when it is no longer reasonably required for the permitted purposes or if you withdraw your consent (where applicable) and I am not legally required or otherwise permitted to continue storing such data. I will, in particular, retain your personal information where required to assert or defend against legal claims until the end of the relevant retention period or until the claims in question have been settled.

Privacy Security

To maintain the security of your personal information under the Act, I have taken reasonable methods to prevent unauthorized access and maintain the accuracy of all personal information collected by my website. Physical and technical methods of protection include limited access by internal personnel to your personal information on a need-to-know basis, and password protection for documents or logs containing personal information.

By remaining on my website, you acknowledge that the transmission of information over the internet is not fully secure and is done at your own risk. I cannot therefore guarantee that any information you submit to me will be accessible only to me as the intended recipient. However, I will do my best to protect your personal information. If there is a security breach caused by an unauthorized party, you agree to indemnify me and hold me harmless for all claims against the unauthorized party.

I will also endeavour to prevent the introduction of malware, malicious code, and viruses (“viruses”) to my website and my users. Due to the inherent nature of the internet, however, I am unable to guarantee or warrant that my websites, content, products, or services are completely free from viruses. I will not be liable for any damage or harm relating to viruses that may arise after the use of my website, services, or products purchased on it. You agree to take responsibility for reasonable measures to prevent the intrusion of viruses onto your hardware and software, and to take appropriate steps to ensure your computer and web browser are not exposed to the risk of interference or damage from viruses.

You acknowledge that your use of my website, products, and services is completely voluntary. As such, you shall indemnify me and hold me and my agents and affiliates harmless for any damages or injury that may arise from your use of my website and services, which include, but are not limited to, issues regarding the confidentiality and security of your personal information.
